About MIHS Department of Psychiatry
Our psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, behavioral health technicians and recreational therapy staff take a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment and collaborate closely with referring physicians, outpatient treatment teams from behavioral health agencies, primary care physicians and other health care professionals. All physician members of the medical staff must be board- eligible in order to obtain privileges in the Department of Psychiatry at Maricopa Integrated Health System.
Maricopa Integrated Health System’s Desert Vista Behavioral Health Center provides a safe place for people in need of behavioral health care and psychiatric services. At Desert Vista, psychiatric services are provided in a comfortable, friendly environment. The units at Desert Vista specialize in caring for patients undergoing court-ordered evaluation and treatment. Located in Mesa, with a licensed capacity of 122 beds, Desert Vista Behavioral Health Center specializes in treating adults with major mental illness in a comfortable inpatient setting.
Behavioral Health Annex
Maricopa Behavioral Health Annex provides psychiatric services for adults. Located in Central Phoenix on the cam- pus of Maricopa Medical Center, our facility has a licensed capacity of 68 beds. Like Desert Vista, the units at the Annex specialize in caring for patients undergoing court- ordered evaluation and treatment. One of the units offers psychiatric inpatient care for geriatric patients and those with co-occurring medical problems.
