Grants & Research

About

Maricopa Integrated Health System has been inspiring people to care about health care since 1872. It is the only public teaching hospital and health care system in Arizona.  Its interests include being a teaching hospital, providing health-care, and research.

Healthcare in the United States is changing. The mantra we hear again and again is Better Health, Better Care, and Reduced Cost. This paradigm shift represents a powerful transformation in how we, as a system and as a nation, approach health and healthcare. The Grants and Research team assists MIHS to meet the challenges of these rapidly changing times.

The Grants and Research Department has received over $100 million of external funding over the last decade. It is home to grants, health services research, laboratory-based, and clinical research. A hallmark of MIHS is its focus on community-based participatory approach; dissemination of the findings of investigations that expand knowledge and understanding of the broad field of health care, and that help to improve the health of individuals and communities.

MIHS Mission:
The Maricopa Integrated Health System mission is to provide exceptional care, without exception, every patient, every time.

MIHS Vision: Maricopa Integrated Health System will be nationally recognized for transforming care to improve community health.

MIHS Values:

 Accountability

We hold ourselves and each other accountable by accepting personal responsibility for all that we do and stewardship of the resources we deploy on behalf of our community.

 Compassion

We demonstrate sensitivity to our patients and each other by offering emotional, spiritual, cultural and physical support.

 Excellence

We are committed to delivering breakthrough quality and service that exceeds expectations, improves outcomes and provides exceptional patient care.

 Safety

We ensure a safe environment for all and a highly reliable, effective care experience.
