Information
Thank you for your interest the Department of Radiology at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Our department provides third and fourth year medical student rotations/clerkships. We also offer observerships to foreign medical graduates.
All our rotations start on the first Monday of each month and are 4-weeks long. The hospital allows a maximum of 2 rotations per academic year.
Maricopa Medical Center provides three free meals per day from the hospital cafeteria, during your rotation.
Free parking is available on-site.
Rotators have access to the hospital medical library during their rotation.
Two lectures are provided daily. One is at 7:30am and the other is at 12:00pm. Rotators are welcome to attend the 7:30am lectures and expected to attend the noon conferences. Most lectures take place in the Radiology Resident Conference Room.
Call and weekend coverage is not part of the rotation or observership.
Rotators and observers can present cases during noon lectures if schedule permits.

Goals
To provide third and fourth year medical students, and observers with exposure to the following Medical Imaging modalities:
- Abdominal Imaging
- Breast Imaging
- Interventional Radiology
- Musculoskeletal Imaging
- Neuroradiology
- Nuclear Medicine
- Thoracic Imaging
- Ultrasound
- Vascular
Format
Through lecture attendance, participation in read-out sessions with the attending staff and residents and the observation of invasive and non-invasive radiological procedures students will be introduced to:
- Techniques relevant to radiology
- Normal anatomic features and variants
- Radiological anatomy
- Aspects of the basic sciences
- The formulation of differential diagnosis and diagnostic-management plans for developmental abnormalities, congenital anomalies, infections, tumors and tumor-like lesions, trauma, metabolic, systemic and hematological disorders, immunologic disorders and iatrogenic problems

Evaluation Methods
The student will be given feedback throughout the rotation by residents and faculty in the daily work situation and didactic conferences. Written evaluations of the student's overall performance will be provided at the conclusion of the rotation.
