MIHS CEO, Employees Put Sole in 2006 Heart Walk
March 3, 2006 - American Heart Association statistics indicate that more than 70 million Americans live with some form of cardiovascular disease. Maricopa Integrated Health System employees see the faces behind that statistic each day while treating patients.
Together with CEO Betsey Bayless, MIHS employees have raised more than $33,975 and recruited 143 family members, friends and colleagues to walk with them between 8-11a.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Tempe Beach Park in the annual 5k walk.
Heart disease is something that touches us all, Betsey Bayless said. The Heart Walk is a great way to bring awareness to the problem. I'm honored to be the 2006 chairperson.
Cardiac health is a lifelong commitment. That's why MIHS offers patients an extensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
About the MIHS Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Phase I Inpatient - Hospitalized patients begin medical and exercise therapy as soon as possible.
Phase II Outpatient - Patients begin monitored exercise sessions and risk reduction modification classes. Prior to entering the program, patients attend an orientation session where they undergo a complete cardiovascular evaluation.
Phase III Continued Outpatient Therapy - Patients build upon the progress they achieved during the second phase of their rehab by attending voluntary rehabilitation sessions.
