Maricopa Integrated Health System Employee Recognized for Excellence, Spirit of Service
MIHS Volunteer Coordinator Sandra Munoz Named Recipient of the 2005 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award - April 26, 2006
About 100 Maricopa Integrated Health System volunteers accumulate more than 40,000 hours of dedicated service each year. They can be found contributing to the excellent patient care MIHS provides every day
In keeping with the hospital’s teaching mission, Munoz places much of the volunteer focus on the educational opportunities MIHS volunteers gain with each hour served. The education focus is exemplified by five volunteers who recently were accepted into medical schools.
At 4:30 p.m. today, on the east lawn of the Senate building at the Arizona State Capitol, Munoz will be one of 16 individuals receiving the 2005 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for her role in promoting a spirit of volunteerism in the community.
MIHS CEO Betsey Bayless said the honor bestowed upon Munoz illustrates the importance of volunteers.
“Volunteering is a fundamental element of any vibrant organization,” Bayless said. “I am extremely grateful for each and every Maricopa Integrated Health System volunteer. This is a proud day for Ms. Munoz and all of us at MIHS.”
