PHOENIX - Special Health Care District Chairwoman Paulina Morris will meet with constituents from District 3 to discuss the health system's pending FY2008 budget, the district's ongoing fight for Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) funds meant to offset care given to the medically needy and ongoing plans regarding a replacement facility for Maricopa Medical Center.

Who: Residents of District 3
What: Community Town Hall & Strategy Forum
When: 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Where: Madison School District Board Room: 5601 N. 16th St. Phoenix, AZ 85016 (On the corner of 16th Street and Missouri Ave)
Why: To inform the public about Arizona's only public health system

In the fall of 2003, voters approved the creation of the Special Health Care District with the passage of Proposition 414. Since then, a "stunning turnaround" has taken place under the leadership of the SHCD Board of Directors and MIHS CEO Betsey Bayless.

"Thanks to the hard work of everyone associated with the health system we are moving in the right direction," Morris said. "As a board, we realize MIHS remains a work in progress, but we believe it has a future filled with limitless potential. I am looking forward to sharing that message with the residents of District 3 tonight."
