If you do not have health insurance, or are not sure if you do, request the assistance of a financial counselor, who will inform you about health insurance options and special payment programs offered through Maricopa Integrated Health System. Some insurance options include Maricopa Health Plan, an AHCCCS-funded health plan; KidsCare; Maricopa Long Term Care Plan, and, for Maricopa County employees, HealthSelect.
Cafeteria - The cafeteria is located in the lower level of the hospital. We welcome patients, their families and guests to dine in the cafeteria or to purchase take-out food. The cafeteria provides a wide selection of hot meals, snacks and beverages. The cafeteria is open weekdays for breakfast from 6 - 10 a.m., lunch from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., snacks and beverages from 2 - 4:30 p.m. and dinner from 4 - 6:45 p.m. On weekends and holidays, the cafeteria is open for breakfast from 6 - 8 a.m., lunch from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., snacks and beverages from 2 - 4:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 - 6:45 p.m.
Vending machines - Vending machines with soda, coffee and snacks are located adjacent to the cafeteria and throughout the hospital in family waiting areas.
When you are ready for discharge, your doctor, nurse and/or case manager will discuss your post-hospital care. You will receive information on medications, special diet requirements and other important factors to help you reach a full recovery. They also will answer any questions or concerns you or your family may have.
When you are ready to leave, a member of our staff will accompany you from your room to the main entrance of the medical center. This is also the location to where your ride or transportation service should be waiting. Our staff member will remain with you until your ride arrives.
Your doctor orders all your medications, which are given to you by your nurse. The only medications you may take during your stay are those prescribed by your doctor. For your health, please inform your doctor of any medications you may be taking or were taking prior to your hospitalization.
If you choose to have Maricopa Medical Center fill your prescriptions, our pharmacy will deliver your medicines to your nursing unit. Before you leave the hospital, pharmacists will be available to assist the nurses in talking to you about your medicines, and they will guide you on how to take your medicines, about the possible side effects, and how to refill your prescriptions.
Maricopa Medical Center and all MIHS facilities are tobacco free campuses. Because of our concern for the health of patients, visitors and staff, the use of tobacco products, electronic cigarette/cigars (e-cigarettes) or like products is not allowed inside the hospital or anywhere on the hospital grounds. Maricopa Integrated Health System does not promote the use of tobacco products, and our caring staff would like to remind you that smoking is hazardous to your health and to the health of others who may breathe the second-hand smoke.
Please send home valuables such as jewelry, credit cards or money so they don't get lost or stolen. If you have valuables and cannot arrange to send them home, please ask your nurse for assistance to place these items in the hospital safe. Maricopa Integrated Health System cannot be responsible for your valuable belongings left unsecured. However, if you do have property lost or stolen during your stay, please ask a member of our staff to contact security to submit a report, or, if you wish, you may contact the security department directly by calling 344-5277. Also note that eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids or dentures should be stored in the bedside table when not in use. For safety purposes we do not allow personal electrical appliances from home to be used in the hospital.
MIHS Visitation guidelines align with the principles of family centered care, privacy, and non-discriminatory regulations. MIHS will not use age, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, immigration status, disability of either the patient, the patient’s surrogate, patient’s family or support person or patient’s visitors as a basis for limiting, restricting, or otherwise deny visitation privileges.
MIHS will have open visiting hours except in the following scenarios:
- Infection control issues
- Visitation may interfere with the care of the patient or other patients
- Hospital is aware that there is an existing court order restricting contact
- Visitors engage in disruptive, threatening, or violent behavior of any kind
- Patient or patient’s roommate(s) need rest or privacy
- Patient is undergoing care interventions. MIHS will try to accommodate the needs of any patient who requests that at least one visitor be allowed to remain in the room to provide support and comfort at such times.
- When the patient’s attending physician has written an order limiting a patient’s visitation.
