In response to the needs of parents and children in Maricopa County, MIHS has launched the Family Services Initiative to (1) build a Family Learning Center and (2) implement a Pediatric Clinic Family Educator Program, based on Healthy Steps and Bright Futures. After an initial community fundraising phase, MIHS will support operations in 2008. The Family Learning Center, as well as all patient care tools and residency curricula developed through the Initiative, will be freely available to other community agencies, residency programs, and health systems. The Initiative builds MIHS' capacity to help all health systems integrate the emerging science of early brain development in patient care and fulfill its obligation, as the Maricopa Special Health Care District, to be responsive to the needs of low-income children and families. The Family Learning Center is into months of operations with a lot of activities and enthusiasm! Please take a look at our schedule of events and family friendly tips…we are planning on presenting to you ways to learn more about your health, entertain your young one’s mind, and reach your personal goals….
